I work with clients 13 and older to tailor an approach using a number of therapeutic modalities including but not limited to Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy informed practices, and Harm Reduction Strategies, particularly around navigating self-harming behaviours.
With the scope of my experience, I am prepared to work with clients and their families around a variety of issues including:
- Struggles with mood, anxiety and other mental health difficulties
- Parenting/parent-teen conflict
- Difficulties with emotional regulation (struggles with effectively managing emotions & emotional experiences; struggles with less than optimal coping strategies such as various types of self-harming behaviours)
- Support for family members of individuals who struggle with emotional regulation
- Matters related to sexuality and sexual identity, including coming out and grappling with the effects of homophobia, biphobia, and heteronormativity
- Gender identity, including support around transitioning, coming out as transgender, gender queer, nonbinary, and grappling with the effects of transphobia and rigid gender norms
- Understanding the impact of various forms of oppression (sexism, racism, ageism, saneism, transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, religious biases etc.) and finding healing and empowerment through resistance.
My fee is $150/50 minute session and is prorated at the same rate for family sessions if they run longer. A portion may reimbursable for those who have supplemental insurance coverage. Please check with your carrier to see what your plan covers.
