Having spent over 20 years in a variety of positions ranging from youth outreach worker to clinical counsellor to clinical supervisory and managerial roles, I am uniquely positioned to support professionals and agencies across a range of needs
I am available for case specific or on-going clinical consultation especially related to adolescents and their families. My approach is to support professionals & teams in seeing people from strengths based and holistic frameworks that also include looking at how we can assist them in not just surviving but also thriving within systems that are often not designed to support them in doing so.
With numerous years of facilitating trainings and workshops within the human services field, I can work with you to design and deliver high quality and engaging professional development opportunities for your staff teams. Among the kinds of trainings I have provided include but are not limited to:
- Understanding and working with individuals who engage in self-harming behaviours
- Working with LGBTQ2S+ youth
- Compassion Fatigue, Burn Out, & Compassion Satisfaction
- Suicide Intervention & Prevention
- Working with Families
- Communication & Team Dynamics
-Introduction to Motivational Interviewing
Patty has been providing me with clinical consultation for my private practice for five years now. She brings a wealth of knowledge of different modalities and insights that support me in being a better therapist for my clients. Patty knows how to ask the right questions to encourage me to reflect deeply on my role in sessions, while also weaving in a broader understanding of the larger systemic issues at play and how to best advocate for clients. It is always a wonderful learning opportunity speaking with Patty and I am so appreciative of her sound clinical judgment

Our community mental health agency has benefited from the involvement of Patty Hayes as an external trainer and consultant to our staff. She is an engaging presenter who is able to customize and adapt learning curriculum in order to enhance the relevancy of the material for the type of services and population that we serve. Patty is extremely collaborative, humorous, authentic, and knowledgeable,
and has deservedly earned much appreciation and respect from workers and managers alike. In addition to trainings, Patty has consulted with specific teams for the purposes of offering insights, suggestions, and supporting the debriefing and assessing of treatment needs for some clients presenting with complex profiles. She has and continues to be invaluable in the contributions she has made in ensuring our agency is providing quality services and supports to the clients we serve.
Jill Davidson, MSW, RSW
When our employees identified the need for mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic, Patty was instrumental in providing support through group listening circles. She has provided support on several topics, including compassion fatigue, self care and coping with death and loss within the workplace. Patty finds a strong balance between discussion and structure and creates a safe space where employees can fully participate.
Patty also runs facilitated staff support sessions for Durham Community Health Centre. These sessions provide a safe and supportive environment where staff feel comfortable to share. Staff find Patty very professional and knowledgeable and consider her a valued expert to support them in their work with clients.
